Sosnowiec, miasto na Wyżynie Śląskiej i nad trzema rzekami
Sosnowiec to miasto w województwie śląskim, na Wyżynie Śląskiej znajdują się nad trzema rzekami: Czarną Przemszą, Brynicą i Białą Przemszą. Sosnowiec położony jest we wschodniej części Górnośląskiego Okręgu Przemysłowego.
Nazwa Sosnowiec pochodzi od Borów Sosnowych, które porastały te tereny przed rokiem 1830. Wcześniej miasto nazywało się "Sosnowice".
W Sosnowcu znajdują się zabytki takie jak: Pałac Wilhelma, Dom Ludowy, Zamek Sielecki, Pałac Dietla, Pałac Schöna, Dwór Mieroszewskich, Katedra Wniebowzięcia NMP, Kościół pw. Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa, Kośćiół Najświętszego Ciała i Krwi Chrystusa, Kościół pw. Świętej Barbary czy Dom Macierzysty Zgromadzenia Sióstr Karmelitanek Dzieciątka Jezus, Teatr Zagłębia.

Sosnowiec to również 2.250 ha terenów zielonych w skwerach, parkach, lasach, ogrodach działkowych i strefach ochronnych. Wiele z tych obszarów ma wartość zabytkową. 70 drzew w mieście to pomniki przyrody, a pięć parków znajduje się w śląskim wojewódzkim rejestrze zabytków.
Sosnowiec dzięki szybkiemu rozwojowi przemysłu ciężkiego, stał się miastem przemysłowym. Przyczyniło się do tego skrzyżowanie szlaków kolejowych i drogowych.
W Sosnowcu znajdują się szlaki rowerowe i piesze. Do szlaków rowerowych zalicza się Szlak Dawnego Pogranicza, Szlak Lasu Zagórskiego oraz Szlak Czarnego Morza. Szlaki piesze to Szlak Metalurgów, Szlak Dwudziestopięciolecia PTTK, Szlak Via Regia i Szlak Pustynny.
