Nowy Sącz - jedno z najstarszych miast w Małopolsce

Wyjątkowo interesujące miasto z długą historią. Położone w województwie małopolskim, u stóp Beskidu Sądeckiego i Wyspowego, w widłach rzek Dunajca i Kamienicy Nawojowskiej, niedaleko Starego Sącza i Limanowej. Nowy Sącz jest głównym ośrodkiem Ziemi Sądeckiej ze szczytami Beskidów na południu i zachodzie oraz Jeziorem Rożnowskim na północy. 

Nowy Sącz, wbrew nazwie, lokowany był już w roku 1292 jako miasto królewskie w ziemi krakowskiej. Pochwalić może się niezwykłymi zabytkami - gotyckie kościoły, malownicze ruiny zamku czy chociażby urokliwy Rynek, ale to tylko część tego, co oferuje turystom to piękne, zielone miasto.

Miejscem godnym uwagi są mury miejskie, które znajdują się przy ulicy Kazimierza Wielkiego. Z murami połączony był zamek królewski, który stanowił ważne ogniwo obronne. Mury powstały w XIV wieku, posiadały trzy bramy i system baszt, a dzisiaj możemy podziwiać fragmenty średniowiecznych umocnień Nowego Sącza, czyli resztkę muru z basztą Kowalską przy zamku, mur obronny o długości 20 m i wysokości około 5 m koło Bazyliki św. Małgorzaty, mur przy ul. Zakościelnej przebudowany w 1918 roku, przy ul. Św. Ducha ogrodzenie plebanii wtórnie zostało wykonane z kamienia ze średniowiecznych murów, koło ul. Matejki przy placu targowym zachowała się reliktowa część wału ziemnego.

Następnie, ważnymi miejscami na mapie Nowego Sącza to między innymi Bazylika Św. Małgorzaty - stary gotycki kościół, o którym pierwsza wzmianka pojawiła się w 1303 roku. Później Kościół Św. Heleny, który jest drewnianym kościołem, ufundowanym w XVII wieku przez Helene Marchocką. Przy kościele znajduje się cmentarz ze zbiorowym grobowcem jezuitów. Dalej warto zobaczyć Biały Klasztor przy ulicy Poniatowskiego, Dom Gotycki przy ulicy Lwowskiej, Kościół Św. Kazimierza, Synagoga przy ulicy Berka Joselewicza i Kirkut przy ulicy Tarnowskiej. 

Będąc w Nowym Sączu należy poświęcić chwilę na zwiedzanie Sądeckiego Parku Etnograficznego, które staje coraz bardziej popularną atrakcją w regionie. Powstało tu Miasteczko Galicyjskie, które jest unikatowym miejscem z rekonstrukcjami historycznych obiektów - starosądeckiego Ratusza, dworów szlacheckich, domów mieszkalnych z warsztatami rzemieślniczymi czy remizy, dając tym samym ogląd XIX-wiecznego miasteczka galicyjskiego.

Nowy Sącz jest zdecydowanie miastem, które warto odwiedzić. Posiada wiele atrakcji i zabytków, które zaciekawią każdego. Może być głównym celem naszej podróży, ale na pewno warto zajechać nawet będąc w okolicy.
