Gorzów Wielkopolski to miasto w województwie lubuskim. Północna część miasta położona jest na Równinie Gorzowskiej, a południowa znajduje się w Kotlinie Gorzowskiej. Gorzów Wielkopolski leży nad Wartą przy ujściu Kłodawki i jej dopływem - Srebrną.
Gorzów Wielkopolski jest dużym ośrodkiem przemysłowym, a jego początki sięgają dziejów przedwojennych. Od 1997 roku w mieście działa podstrefa Kostrzyńsko-Słubicka Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna.
Prawa miejskie miasto otrzymało w 1257 roku. Margrabia Brandenburski z dynastii askańskiej (Jan I Askańczyk) wydał dokument w którym upoważnił rycerza Alberta de Luge do utworzenia miasta nad rzeką i nazwania go Landisberch Novam. Do roku 1945 Gorzów był związany z niemiecką Brandenburgią, natomiast po II wojnie światowej znalazło się w obszarze Polski.
Gorzów Wielkopolski jest ośrodkiem kulturalnym regionu, znajdują się tutaj np. Jazz Club pod Filarami czy Centrum Edukacji Artystycznej w Filharmonii Gorzowskiej. W mieście odbywa się cykliczna impreza - festiwal muzyki romskiej "Międzynarodowe Spotkania Zespołów Cygańskich Romane Dyvesa".
Najbardziej charakterystyczną dziedziną sportową z której słynie Gorzów Wielkopolski to żużel. Od 1947 roku w Gorzowie Wielkopolskim funkcjonuje klub sportowy Stal Gorzów Wielkopolski, z którego wywodzi się 2-krotny mistrz świata w żużlu Bartosz Zmarzlik.
Zdecydowanie najważniejszym symbolem miasta jest Katedra Wniebowzięcia Najświętszej Maryi Panny, natomiast miasto słynie jeszcze np. z odmiany jabłek "reneta landsberska", która znana jest na całym świecie jako Landsberger Renette. Z tej odmiany jabłek przygotowuje się "Szarlotkę z Landsberską”. W 2016 roku w Gorzowie Wielkopolskim odkryto szczątki prehistorycznego nosorożca "Stephanorhinus kirchbergensis", jest to jedyny egzemplarz w Europie. W 1958 roku w mieście wyprodukowano pierwsze taśmy magnetofonowe.
Na terenie Gorzowa Wielkopolskiego znajduje się rezerwat przyrody Gorzowskie Murawy. W mieście jest 9 parków miejskich o łącznej powierzchni ponad 138 ha. Są to m.in. Park Słowiński, Wiosny Ludów, Siemiradzkiego, Zacisze czy 750-lecia.
