Częstochowa i wycieczki po Jurze Krakowsko-Częstochowskiej.
Częstochowa położona jest w południowej Polsce. Częstochowa, pomimo tego że znajduje się w granicach województwa śląskiego, historycznie, kulturowo i etniczne należy do Małopolski. Częstochowa ponadto usytuowana jest nad rzeką Wartą, w trzech mezoregionach fizycznogeograficznych, należących do Wyżyny Krakowsko-Częstochowskiej i Wyżyny Woźnicko-Wieluńskiej. Co najważniejsze jest centralnym miastem aglomeracji częstochowskiej, a także największym ośrodkiem gospodarczym, kulturalnym i administracyjnym w subregionie północnym województwa śląskiego.
Według legendy nazwa Częstochowa oznacza osadę stworzoną przez człowieka o imieniu Częstoch, jednak pierwsza wzmianka o niej pochodzi z 1220 roku, z dokumentu biskupa krakowskiego Iwona Odrowąża. W pobliżu Częstochowy mieściła się wówczas druga wieś, Częstochówka. Kwestia daty przyznania osadzie praw miejskich jest niejednoznaczna, ale szacuje się to zdarzenie na okres między 1370 a 1377 rokiem. Częstochowa doświadczyła dynamicznego rozwoju w wieku XIV, któremu sprzyjało lokalizacja na szlaku łączącym Małopolskę z Wielkopolską.
